Post-Natal Courses

"Perfect way to start exercise after giving birth, especially to help being aware of what has happened to my stomach muscles and how to regain strength and balance. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who has given birth!"

What happens if I can't make a class?

We understand that sometimes being a mum can be tricky, and babies can be unpredictable.

We ask that you attend in person if possible, as you’ll benefit most from being in the studio with the equipment. But if you can’t make it one week, we offer the option to:

  • Join via Zoom from home, or

  • Receive a recording of the class to do in your own time.

At The Pilates Corner we create a safe environment for you to gently reintroduce yourself back to exercise while meeting other mums and gaining confidence in your new body.

No Childcare is needed as you can bring your baby along with you

to the classes.

When am I allowed to attend?

Once you have had your baby, providing there were no complications during your delivery, it is safe to return to gentle exercise.

  • Wait 6 weeks following a natural birth

  • Wait 12 weeks following a C-section

I've been told I shouldn't do some exercises straight after giving birth,

is this true?

Some moves aren’t safe right away. Pregnancy often causes tummy muscle separation (Diastasis Recti) and a weakened pelvic floor - but with the right Pilates exercises, both can be restored.

Our postnatal courses ease you back in gently, building strength at a sensible pace. We focus on your core, pelvic floor, and upper body, so you feel stronger, supported, and ready to care for your baby without back pain.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need to have done Pilates before?

Not at all. Our post-natal courses are designed for complete beginners as well as those who may have done Pilates before. We start gently and progress at a sensible pace, ensuring everyone feels safe and supported while building strength, posture, and confidence.

What should I bring to class?

All you need is comfortable clothing you can move in, a bottle of water, and anything your baby might need (nappies, blanket, toys). We provide mats and equipment in the studio.

How many people are in each class?

We keep our classes small (maximum 7 mums) so that everyone receives personal attention and feels supported throughout the session.

What if I had complications during birth?

If you experienced complications, we recommend getting clearance from your GP or midwife before joining. Once you have approval, we can adapt the exercises to ensure they are safe and beneficial for your recovery.

I’m not sure if this is right for me. Can I speak to someone first?

Of course! You can book a free chat with us to ask questions and make sure this course is the right fit for you.

Will the exercises help with back pain and posture?

Yes. Our classes specifically focus on improving posture, strengthening your core and pelvic floor, and building upper body strength - all of which can ease back pain from lifting and feeding your baby.

Not sure if our postnatal course is the right fit?

We’d love to talk it through with you. Schedule a free chat with us, ask your questions, and feel confident before you join.
